q,6

Postby Hationizing » Sun Aug 28, 2005 6:27 pm

I seem to do very well with this hand and am winning quite often with it.  My question is should I stick with playing this hand or tighten up my starting hand requirements as I move to larger stakes.

Q6 is a very marginal starting hand.  Over the long run, you will almost certainly lose with it more often than you will win.

most people have a fav hand other than aces and yours is possibly q6.  if we didnt play our hunches then we'd all wait for the nuts.  id say play what you want but be honest with yourself about your ability to get away from a hanh post flop.  if you have post flop trouble then tighten up.

no way is Q6 a betting hand.  maybe you limp in on the button to see the flop but.....do you want to call a raise with this???

I rarely play Q,6 not that great a hand, I play it sometimes if I'm in the big blind and I get to check it

I'd say get out while the gettin's good and start playing real starting hands.  Q6 doesn't even deserve to be called marginal, even if it is suited.  The fact that you've BEEN winning is a bonus, get out before the odds catch up with you.

Umm am I missing something here? Surely if you get to check on the big blind you play any hand. If it costs nothing then even 2 7 off is worth a look.
