AA is so much better of a starting hand than AK is.  You start off with the best pair you can have in poker.  Most of the time AA is going to take down the pot.  You just have to be able to fold it if its beaten.  AK is also a good hand but nowhere near as good as AA is.

I would rather have the guarenteed pair to start hand so I'll stick with the AA. Both hnads are good though I'd take either one. But definatel AA.

having rockets cracked by kings is the worst thing that can ever happen, it's just depressing

well I want aa over ak anytime. and if your ganna go as far as sayin ak suited is better then i believe kq suited is better. you give yourself open ended for the straight rather then just the QJ10. but im still stickin with AA anyday.

Just recently i had AA and was up againts the old AK and i was able to get my stack all in pre flop, not too dificult when your againts AK, but i was pretty happy to begin with, saw the flop, was pretty happy with the cards that fell, then the turn and river came, and it took me a second to realize, he had gotten a flush with his king  . I was not happy, to say the least.

you should usually just call with this hand but if someone raises this is one of the best hands to suck out on people...so many possiblities ur bound to hit one of them

Sorry, but statistacally AA kills AK. You are 6% with suited cards to hit a flush after seeing all 5 cards. and about the same for hitting a straight, especially considering there is only 1 straight you can get  -  broadway. It is an absolute fallacy to think AK suited is better than AA.

although AK is ranked lower than AA, i sometimes would rather play a suited AK than an AA, AA seems to make me to confident in the cards im playing and they are not always a sure win

The pocket rocket rules (AA) : you will win a small pot or lose a big one.

I read that somewhere and its the true! I rarely win a big pot with pocket A...

i definetly agree here... i would love either as a starting hand but ak suited just has so many more outs then AA and so many ways to improve .. definetly great cards for starting hands though ... especially late in a tourney.

LOL...Okay, just try to pit AA vs AK suited atleast 100 times, AA will win 95% of the time. I would pick AA anytime of the day, rahter than AK.

You will obviously get busted out more by AK rather than AA as there is a far higher probablity of getting AK as a starting hand.

personally i think it all depends on the type of table your on...and what type of board there is...ak could be tops but w/ aa you can easily pair the board
