Poker odds

Postby Wilsock » Fri Apr 15, 2005 9:55 pm

Is there a good website that lists the percentages of winning certain hands, or maybe a good book worth buying that lists general opening hand strategies?

Looking for beginner to intermediate books. Thanks.

Try Dan Harringtons book, the first one. It seems to have helped me......

on there is an odds calculator but you would need to know starting hands for both players to make it work. search poker odds calculator on and that should yield positive results, but i didnt know of any books sorry.

I use a simple system, I take the # of outs, multiply by the # of cards to come, multiplied by 2. For instance, 4 cards to the flush with turn and river to come-(9) outs X(2) cards to come, X(2)=36% chance of hitting needed card. You have to be able  to count correct outs, which can be tricky.

The way u get ur % on ur hand is :  count ur outs X by 2 plus 1 and theres ur %  Example  I have K J  the flop is 10 9 8  i have 14 outs X 2 plus 1 is 29 % chance of hiting K J or Q & for straight. always acount for someone else having some of these cards for there hands.
