Bad beats

If there were no Badbeats and we all played tight, "Text book" poker tournaments would last twice as long as usual. They come with the game, When it happens to you... Get over it because you give them as well as get them.

Bad Beats

Postby Mathesembed » Sat Apr 01, 2006 7:13 pm

So called "bad beats" are part of poker. The thing i think that is the problem and why they hurt so much is that most players start playing online without a sufficient bankroll to last them through the variance involved with this game. That said they do indeed suck, but in the long run the player who beats you will loose more moeny to you then they win. And poker is a long-run type game so just stay confident and dont let the bad beats tilt you.

The bad beats in ring games don't bother me that much. I know I'll have a chance to get it back.  It's in tounaments that it realy iritates me.  If I'm out or cripled I'm not going to get it back.

Postby Sust1982 » Fri May 12, 2006 9:31 am

Similar to anouther tourny about 2 months ago. Was dealt pocket k's on the button at a $1/$2 table. With only one caller and the blinds I made an honest little raise of only $15, w/the blinds both calling the other player to my rightimmediatly reraises all in. I call. The guy had 6/8 Clubs and made a straight on the turn

badbeats are a big part of poker, and if it didnt happen we would all be rich, but alot of bad beats happen when you have made the best play and your opponent/oppenents catch some good cards, so dont let it get to you, just think about if you could have played the hand better, if you believe you could of, there is nothing to worry about.

They are all part of poker. I find that when I play in the low buy-in tournaments there are a lot of bad players who chase down to the river with absolutely nothing. Loosing to them is hard, but, they won't be around to see the money. If you really want to cut down on the bad beats, spend a little more ($10-$15 buy-in). The level of play is much better and the bad beats are not quite   as often. You can't elliminate them totally, but it feels better to loose to a bad beat from a player that played the hand well.
