Hand Scenarion #1

Postby Chammat » Sat Feb 25, 2006 2:49 am

ok im going to make up a few hand scenarios and create a poll and see what you guys think of the situations and what should happen.

ok scenario # 1

your playing in the WSOP final table.

6 players left you have 7,000,000 in chips
Phil Hellmuth has 14,000,000
Doyle brunson has 4,500,000
Howard Lederer has 9,500,000
Phil Ivey has 8,000,000
and a random internet qualifier has 11,000,000 in chips

the blinds are 100,000 and 200,000 with a 10,000 ante

your 6 handed and get dealt AK on the button phil ivey has limped in UTG all have folded round to you, you raise the pot to 600,000 the blinds fold and phil makes it 1,200,000, you think for a while and call, the flop comes down AK2, phil checks you bet out 800,000 phil moves all in, now bearing in mind if you fold you are down to 5,000,000 in chips and nearly shortest on the table, if you call and lose your out in 6th position no bracelet for you, but if you call and win, you sat with 14,300,000 only 200,000 behind hellmuth, WHAT DO YOU DO? when you have voted please explain why you have voted what you have voted here please, i would like to see some answers

i think i would have to fold this one, hes limped in, in early position and then re raised you, he cannot be playing weak cards due to his position, also he could think your making a button steal, so when you call his re raise, hes norrowing you down to QQ KK AA, AQ or AK in my eyes, so when the flop comes down AK2 and you bet he is 99% sure you have at least AQ here, so therefore he puts you on at least top pair, but youve got top 2 pair, in my eyes he has either AK, AA or KK, anyone would chuck QQ there, if he is bluffing, then what a bluff !!!!

I'd call him.

Only three hands have me beat at this stage and the odds of him having one of them is over 70:1

His betting may suggest that he has one of the golden 3 but it also suggests that he is trying to push you off. Add his playing style and the fact that it is a final table where aggression rather than hand strength will be the deciding factor in about half of all hands played.

The bracelet would look good on me but even if I lost the hand and finished 6th the money would take the majority of the sting out of the bad play.

BEWARE of the guy limping in as they say but I don't think I could get out from under this hand.  Might be smart to fold but I would have to call with the pot odds and Phil's rep for pushing people around at the final table. :?

Phil could be limping in with ANYTHING. He could be raising with ANYTHING. You know you have top two pair...I say it's worth a gamble.

Plus...my mindset is, I've already won. To make the final table...woo hoo! Everything else is just gravy! I'll take that chance.
