play the luck?

Postby Begaind » Sun Feb 12, 2006 3:45 am

If  I had 7,2 I think the only way I would play it is if I were in the blind already, but I see a few people play it all the time and win. Just luck?

Yea it's just luck, but then again you never know what the flop will bring.  I'll pay almost anything to see a flop, 'specially early on.

i called yesterday with 72 suited & i hit & won, yes it's luck, basically any gambling is luck, sometimes intuition is a good thing too, so if ya feel lucky call it

People play 2 7 online because they think it is rigged to win.  It is a hand that if it hits, no one will expect it.  Also remember, heads up, 2 7 is not the worse hand, but rather 2 3.

i don't agree but playing 7 2(beside beeing in the big blind and there is no raise)is a sign of non professionalism, what i mean is only bad players and very bad ones only will play this hand, even if you win with it it's just a matter of luck, you might be lucky but don't think you are a good player if you play this hand or other bad starting hands

Well if your on a rush and catching everything I,d pay to see 2-7 maybe if the blinds were not too high !!! Sometimes on a rush, you don,t want to sit out a single hand, while the cards are hitting !!!! Take advantage of it, because at other times i can,t catch anything for an hour !!!

I tend to agree with you, however, it doesn't take you too long playing online to realize that 99% of the players you play against (especially ones who would consider playing this hand anywhere but on the button or in the blinds) are ANYTHING BUT professionals!

In fact, most if not all these players are LOSING players, and they basically play RUSSIAN ROULETTE with JUNK HANDS because they know they're incapable of winning with skill.

I've yet to see ANY of these types of players win a tournament, especially when they have a big chip lead over the rest of the field early on.  If anything, I'm licking my chops when they come to my table.  While I run the risk of being eliminated against a Q 3 suited hand, the chance of my doubling up increases 10 to 20 fold due to how poor of players they are.

Luck will occur once in a while (and sadly, it's just that ONE time that may result in your being eliminated from the tournament), but SKILL (which they ALL LACK!) will always overcome it in the long run.

If you don't believe this statement, see how frequently the same 20 or 30 names at AP and elsewhere are in the running to cash and or win each tournament they play.

early in the game when the blinds are low i like to see just about every flop, sometimes people will play the 72off just to see if they can give someone a bad beat

i  generally like to play sometimes because most likely ur 7 2 are live card, if u dont hit get out, but if u do hit big people dont put u on 72

7-2 is crap, and I will fold it every time. I would rather buy lotto ticket, I have more chances with that maybe?
