kq vs aq

Postby Insch1979 » Sun Jan 15, 2006 7:30 pm

I WAS SITTING ON KING QUEEN SUITED and the flop came q 10  2 .  so checked and wanted some action.  I got the bb raising to only double the blind.  make a long story short i came over top all in and he had aq giving me a three out hand.  should i not have slow played the flop

That's just bad luck.  Though I don't like slow play, in that hand it doesn't really matter he had you dominated from the start.  Sucks though.

Slowplaying for me almost always backfires. I try (although sometimes fail) to only slowplay absolute monster hands any more. I think the better way to go is to try to bet the most that an opponent would call to try to build the pot.

lol i think he wuold have called preflop anyway. if you were going to raise that much with KQ then i'd say he would definitely call with AQ. anyway it's just a bad beat. get over it. you probably dished more than you've received =)

i think that this hand is a prime example of 'one of those things' that happenin poker.

having said that, perhaps going over the top in that situation was a bit excessive - he could have anything, ie 2pair, 3 of a kind, overpair. perhaps a normal sized raise here or flat call - in order to gain some information. If he came out betting the turn aggressively then you may have got the feeling that you were beat and slowed down
