My Freeroll Strategy

Postby Abstold » Sat Mar 18, 2006 9:55 pm

You just really have to play so tight.  Wait to pick up big hands and then make your moves.  Then as the field thins down and you get closer to the money, you can make some bluffs and what not.  As you get down to the wire people want to cash so they'll tighten up a bit.  That's when you can make some moves.  Let me know what you think...

Is there some reason you felt this post was so enlightening that it was worth posting three times?

Just thinkin the same thing.  How about coming up with something new, it doesn't take too much.  Even I can do it once in a while.

Freerolls have to be one of the most frustrating tournies to play in. The players there never seem to take them seriously and mostly it's an all in fest for the first few minuites to an hour they're in play. My general strategy is to play very tight/conservative until i get a big hand ( high pocket pairs QQ, KK, AA) then push all my chips into the middle and hopefully get a fish to call and double up. Once you've got a few chips to play with you can take things a bit more seriously and try to make it into the money.

I tend to become and emotional player instead of an observant one. The people who go all in every hand drive me crazy. I know they don't have a good hand every time but it seems like every time I call them on it, they just happen to have a hand to beat mine (I can't make myself call them unless I have something halfway decent in my hand) and I end up out of the game. Is there any good way to play with the "all in" people and actually win?

Freeroll Tourneys

Postby Wharleas » Sat Apr 15, 2006 2:30 pm

It takes a lot of patients to win one of those freerolls, I have found that playing conservatively tight and only play the really good hands is the most effective way of winning of these games.  I have been doing really good in the last couple of weeks, just with patience is the key here...
