AK is a dead man's hand and if you watch Poker on TV a lot like I do, then you will notice that even they call that hand the BIG SLICK of Death.

It is a Scary hand because it represents so much power, but is beaten 9 out of 10 times it is called.

What is your position? What was the action before you? What are the blinds? What is your table image?
All of that should be answered first before I can give you my thoughts on what to do?
In general, AK is way overrated in todays game, especially online. It isn't like today's players are laying down that pair of 77's to a decent raise like the old days. I'll generally raise first in, I'll lay it down to large bets or large reraises. It isn't a made hand.

Also how many people at the table?  AK is a much stronger hand on a short table than a full one

most of the time i like to raise a little and see the flop before i do anything else, then if the flop is good for you go for it, but be aware of the other hand possibilities out there, ie. straight flush etc.
