taking the hand down

Postby Nity1971 » Sun Dec 18, 2005 7:06 pm

I am getting to the point where if I beleive I have the best hand I am all in or a big bet.  I am very sick of flopping trips and getting burned because I let someone see their straight or flush, or a draw at one on the turn. Like all different suits k 8 3 and i have poket 3s so I check. cheap to the turn usually. If someone goes big Im all in but when they check to the turn then it is 9 on the turn for example. Now my medium to high bet either doesnt get called or it does but then there is a flush and stright draw. It seems they get theier staight or flush more often when I try to be greedy and check to trap. I am cutting trapping signifcantly.

If you have a pocket pair and flop a set you have to be mindfull of the other cards.  If they are not in a roll or all of the same suit then you can make a small bet to try to intice callers.  If it is dangerous flop, like two flush cards or something else, you're first bet has to be very large.  This way you make people pay.
