A9s vs KK

Postby klas793 » Sat Mar 12, 2005 11:23 pm

0.25/0.50 NLHE @ Prima

Me, A9 suited
arfert KK

> arfert posted small blind ($0.25)
> danadolf posted big blind ($0.50)
> Game # 276,742,890 starting.
> Dealing Hole Cards
> chemling raised for $2
> frankster200 folded
> Bisja folded
> NICKDAL raised for $4
> arfert called for $3.75
> danadolf called for $3.50
> chemling called for $2
> Dealing the Flop(9s3h7c)
> arfert checked
> danadolf bet for $20
> chemling folded
> NICKDAL went all-in for $27.20
> arfert folded
> danadolf called for $7.20
> Dealing the turn(10d)
> Dealing the river(5c)
> NICKDAL wins $67.40 with One Pair, Kings

Should I have played it differently?

you over bet the flop. you had no choice but to call and couldnt get a good read on him. you forced yourself to call.

Next time you should just fold, since if anyone has an Ace they probably have you outkicked. Although I guess at those stakes it's not too much of a big deal. Even suited, I would only try it for very cheap and definately not overbet it.

i think u played it ok... u did have high pair on bord and highest kicker... as soon as u seen teh flop there was no turring back and u made the right call.. and even tho it was kinda of a tell that he had pockets and bet that much u still had to take the chances... all i can rilly say it happens...
good luck next time...

how chould he be kicked? high pair on bord was a 9.. and his kciker was the Ace so there was no way he was giting kicked

I believe the idea was to fold A 9 preflop, cause even if you hit an A, you would be outkicked....

Why would you call after a raise and re-raise pre-flop with A9s?  Seems like an easy fold.

You commited so much to the pot that the call was nesecarry. 20 bucks on a 9 high, regardless of kicker that seems nuts on a 0.25/0.50 NLHE table. The possibility of your opponent having a pr should have been considered. I would have said a 5 dollar bet, if he raised it wouldn't have been to 27 (he would have wanted to get you for all you had) and would have given you a better read on him.
