The AP 200% sign-up bonus is still available in November.
This is the highest amount I've seen at Absolute, so if you have never deposited there be sure to take advantage of it.
The bonus clears in $10 increments and you need to play 100 hands at minimum of .25 rake to earn $10. This means that the pot size has to be $5.00 and you don't have to contribute to the pot as long as you are dealt cards.
It takes a couple of hours to clear $10 at .50/1 limit and a bit less at 1/2 limit or at the NL tables. Look for a table with at least $7 average pot size and you should do OK.
In order for a hand to be raked at .25 the pot size has to be $5.00. This means that you have to play at tables which have big enough pots.
You can usually get enough raked hands by playing at .50/1 limit. And at NoLimit it can be even easier.
Check the average pot size for the table when you are thinking where to play and find one that averages $7 or more. That will give you a reasonable chance to clear the bonus.
If you aren't comfortable playing at those stakes yet, build your bankroll in the smaller stakes tables first. In my opinion, you should take at least $25 to a .50/1 table so that you can handle the swings.
MY two cents...on clearing bonuses at party and AP type where the .25 rake on $5 post is in effect I like the .50/$1.00 limit Omaha/hi-lo tables. JUst about everyhand gets raked since theres 5+ people to the flop every hand. Plus, if you know how to play you will turn a profit in addition to the bonus alone.
It makes sense, my fear is that I will get got up and play my hand prematurely and lose my deposit. I struggle with what I am playing for...is it to clear the bonus or win at poker. It seems shooting for two goals can cost me both at the same time.
UPDATE !! It is now a $10 pot required to count as a raked hand or 50cts rake, up from $5 and 25ct rake !! I e-mailed Absolute promotions to tell them i was disappointed. !!!!! I signed up for the 200% bonus at the $5 rake and now you change it in the middle of my bonus. I don,t think this is fair i told them. My reply e-mail from support said the rake requirement was within the normal of other sites and there was nothing they could do about it !!
Futhermore I would advise (an earlier post regarding bonus) that you do not chase the BONUS . You may lose $40 to earn $10 bonus. PLayers seem to be tight at Absolute. I mean only 2-3 will call to see the flop. The 50/$1 tables average only about $6-8 in pots. Don,t move up and out of your comfort zone just so the pots will qualify for the bonus. My only helpful advice is you can play 10 player Omaha hi/lo because with betting at 2 pots(hi/lo), the pots are larger.
