Home Tourney

Postby Polday » Mon Sep 12, 2005 5:15 am

Played 4 tourneys at my house this weekend. I won 2 and came in 2nd in 2...so I placed in the $$.  First tourney was great...I knocked my hubby out 3rd hand into it.  I had raised preflop, hubby called.  Flop came KQ2...I bet, hubby raised me...I was thinking Oh boy...he doesn't know who he is messing with.  LOL  I reraised and then he pushed allin.  He shows KQ...I had KK  :D .  Turn 3 River Q.  Awww...he still loves me though     One of the most memorable hands of Saturday night was between my hubby, dad, and 85 year old grandma (we are a gambling family...lol).  My dad and grandma were the blinds.  Hubby had raised minimum, they both call.  Flop is J 9 3.  Dad bets 200, grandma calls, hubby raises another 200.  Dad goes allin for 1300, grandma calls, hubby pushed allin for another 1300.  Grandma thinks about it, but then she calls going allin with her last 1000.  Hubby shows AA, dad shows J9, and little old grandma shows K8   LMAO!!!  We are all like what in the world!  She just laughs (our buyin was $20 and there were 10 of us playing, so decent amounts).  Turn comes 8...river K!!!!!!       OMG we couldn't believe it!  LOL  Now I know where I get my luck from JDawg!!!!  It runs in the family.  A few hands later, I had 55.  I raised the blind (shortstacked hubby) so he pushed all-in with his last 400.  Of course grandma calls...so I reraised 1000.  She quickly calls.  Flop is 10 2 5.  Grandma bets 200...I raise 1000.   She calls.  Turn 7.  She bets 200, so I went allin with my 2500 left.  She thinks and calls...River was A.  Hubby shows A7 (awww...nice try) Grandma shows K10.  :D   So that was a nice little pot for me!    Was alot of fun...until I started being the target of everyones game...they really were thinking I was picking on them...LOL Oh well!

LOL, great story shya. You sure are a great player and you even take it out on your immediate family :). I wish my family were good at poker, but its only my sister really. My mom goofs off, and my dad takes naps during hands. Oh, and my girlfriend asks for help EVERY SINGLE hand!!!

Great story, love the family participation.  Reminds me of when I was a kid playing poker and pinochle against my Dad.  It was only the two of us but it felt like the championship of the world when I beat him.  (which wasn't too often in poker) :D

I like playing in some home tourneys, because they have less experienced players, but that sometimes is also the reason I don't like home tourneys, lol

Yeah, you see all kinds at a home game. Hubby hates playin against me cause I read him too well. We play regular home games here and at friends. We also play live tourneys at some of the casinos.

I enjoy money play insteand of tourneys when I'm playing live because I don;t have to wait if i lose. I guess this might not be a problem in some of your cases.
