100,000+ civilians killed

Postby Billessic » Thu Jun 16, 2005 7:15 pm

# of online media reported Iraqi civilian deaths as a direct result of combat in Bush's war as of 6-1-05:

Visit http://www.iraqbodycount.net to see the number of "online media" reported Iraqi civilian deaths. Iraq Body Count is the main resource for Iraqi civilian fatalities. Each fatality has been reported and verified.

These figures are taken from the minimum and maximum body counts of each occurrence. when several are killed at once, some reports may list 28 dead, or others 30. these numbers would be split into the high and low columns resulting in the two numbers.

However, professional estimates range much higher, placing the real number at about four times that amount.

A report from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Baltimore, Maryland dated October 28, 2004, concluded that more than 100,000 Iraqi civilians, many of them women and children, had died from direct war related violence at the time of publication.

Also, a report published in the Washington Post the same day, October 28, 2004, showed that a separate survey team in Iraq, based on months of investigation, also placed the civilian death toll at around 100,000 at that time.
