Wow I am an idiot

Postby Mystery36 » Thu Jun 09, 2005 7:35 pm

I was playing online poker the other night, nothing unusual exept the fact that I was watching a beautiful thunderstorm out the window.Alot of people are smart enough to have a surge protector or just plain unplug the pc during a storm but not me.I spent the whole day replacing my pc modem and all my phone lines. It even blew up my cordless phone.I use to work in a home taking care of retarded people and I swear sometimes that everyone of them could beat me in an IQ test.

I know I'm suppose to disconnect my pc during a thunderstorm... but I can't stand the thought of being disconnected. At least I've got a UPS, so if the power goes out my pc is still running. Nothing funnier then seeing your entire block's poker go out and your PC is still online.

I would probably do the same thing. As a matter a fact have several times and probably will again. Some things are worth gambling on.

One of my buddies had lightning strike his house. It surged through his TV, flew across the room to him on the couch scorching him with a million+ volts, and continued to blow his phone lines among other equipment. Things like this happen, and while it may be a pain in the ass at that point in time, at least from now on you'll learn from that mistake and make sure to turn everything off.
