Depending on how big the pot is and how big the raise is i would either call or fold.  Generally if the pair is higher than the third card it is more likely that they have trips.  If the third card is higher than the pair than players will often raise with their two pair.

I would raise with good to excellent hands: pocket pairs 6 or 7 and up, AK-A-J, KQ maybe KJ.  king ten and queen jack are almost never raisable preflop in an early position.

The most over-played hands

There are two hands i have in mind that people overplay all too often.  The first being queen jack.  In an early position its not a bad idea to fold this hand.  I would never play this hand with someone who has raised preflop regardless of my position.  The hand can be beat by al...

You shouldn't just play less hands but limp in less.  If your hand isn't good enough to raise preflop then its probably not good enough to play.

You shouldnt force your opponents all in but you should raise.  The raise will push out the worse hand.

No matter what hits you should always try to give a bet after raising preflop.  If you get rased or anything with an ace you know to fold.

Last time i checked pocket aces win all the time.  You just have to be aware that they can lose and gather up the courage to fold.

Thats terrible advice, just because there is a 5 or 10 on board doesnt mean you need to watch for straights.  What if the flop is ace 2 4 6 7? no five, doesnt mean you dont have to watch for the straight.  And also, if theres only one or two possible hands that make straights you shouldnt ...

Isnt that the point of the game?  The people who bluff all the time are the ones who havent played long enough to realize that people figure you out.  You should only bluff when you are sure that the other person is weak and will fold.
