OMAHA H/L

Postby Nowd1988 » Sun Jan 15, 2006 5:13 pm

My favorite poker game is omahs h/l. I am confused however, in what constitutes a "low" hand. I have been beat out of a low when I have had A2348  and my oppent had 24567. I understand that their 7 is lower than my 8, but my A is lower than their 2.  ???????? Could anyone pleas explain this to me.  THANKYOU-----------ALLTHAT111

A low hand is any 5 unpaired cards under the value of the 8...
The highest cards are measured first when determining the "strength" of the low...
The worst low is 87654 and the best is 5432A or a wheel...
The reason why you're 8-4 got beat was his started with the 7 and was a 7-6 lo..
I don't know if this helps as I know the description is a little vague but remember when speaking of lows, high card is first.

Yes pokerprofro you explained it good. It gets a little complicated sometimes so you have to make sure you concentrate when your playing.

My rule of thumb is take your low hand and work backwards. 1st, whats , your highest low card??? If your highest card is an 8, THEN the 7 low ,6  low, and 5 low beats you. The tricky part is a tie, like 2 hands with 7 low!! Lets say YOU have A-2-3-6-7 !!! NOW,, figure what can beat you!!! WELL A-2-3-4-7 beats you !! A-2-3-5-7 beats you too. And don,t think the ACE can,t lose,,,, 2-3-4-5-6 also beats you, being a 6- low !! I hope this helps !!
