Wish I had a local casino, but not here in Ohio. About a 3+ hour drive to the closest one. And the local home games are few and far between. Any Ohio people in the forum know where some good home games are?

My closest home game...

Postby Doccujjoinds » Wed Mar 23, 2005 7:02 am

Is in Cripple Creek, CO. I haven't gotten the nerve or the $ to take the hour and a half drive up the mountain (Pikes Peak) to go try a live game.

Any tips on trying my first live game; if and when I do go for it?

Thanks,
Melziemae

live poker is unquestionably a test of a poker player's skill
and when you play in live games, people tend to TRY!!!!!!!!!!

Live poker = true/real poker

The competition is better than all-in online poker. Is it just me or does it seem the tournaments end too quickly online as opposed to home games?

Live poker allows the more experienced to capitalize on the weak players through facial tells you don't get online.

i much prefer live games. thats where the real game of poker is played  the game is based so much on human interaction and psychology that you just can't get the entire feel for the game online

I have yet to play a live game.... even though I live 10 min from a casino that has daily tournaments.... something intimidates me.

Live cards

Postby Strans » Thu Aug 18, 2005 8:17 pm

i enjoy playing live cards a lot more than online, however it isn't always as easy to get 2000 people together like the internet can.

I'm fortunate enough to live 20 minutes from a casino that has daily tourneys for $35 (more on Saturday). The first was intimidating, but it gets easier and way more fun after that. Don't be afraid to ask a question or two the first time (hear lots of new players ask the chip denominations). Ours run anywhere from 3 tables up to 9 on weekends. There's a real thrill to making final table and finishing in the money!
