AA (Article III)

Postby Themem » Wed Feb 15, 2006 4:41 pm

IS IT JUST ME OR DO SOME OF YOU GUYS GET BURNED WHEN YOU SLOW PLAY ACE ACE ? MY NEW STRADEGY IS TO GO ALL IN PRE-FLOP EVERYTIME NOW. IT JUST SEEMS TO WORK OUT BETTER IN MOST OF THE FREEROLLS I PLAY IN. ANY SUGGESTIONS ?

AA

You got to play AA as strong as you can pre flop. Once any cards come out any one could/will win the pot, especially when you are sitting on pocket rockets.

Basically, either play them strongly or throw them sirens away and forget you even had them.

Or, my favourite, scream at the computer and stew on how your best hand has just been beaten my an 8-3 offsuit.

Its better to be lucky than good.

I play AA depending on position, player profile I play with, tournament progress, previews played hands, and even mood.
I never go allin with AA thinking nobody would call.

Well if someone calls and your hand holds up it is a great play. In freerolls especially early on your most likely to get a caller or 2. If they don't call you made an -EV play. Not that I can't understand your frustation when you get them cracked.

I usually open with a 5x BB bet with AA unless I know the table is playing loose then I might go as far as a 10x BB raise, because I know they will call.  But, if you are playing against looser players  that are playing suited connectors beware of the str8's and flushes.  Sometimes you have to walk away from AA, which is considered to be a mature fold.

depends on position, but I raise 4 times the blind with AA, and hope for all in situation, which usually happens!

Many people foolishly complain about getting beat with their AA all the time and say they are going to just slow play them by limping along.  Play the percentages preflop, they dont lie.
Like many others have said, a raise of 4-5X BB is usually sufficient enough to chase off low-mid suited connectors and low PP up to 55.  If you;re in freerolls an all-in is usually the only thing that will chase anyone that actually has something out of a hand.
If you get dealt a made monster hand, play it aggressive and rake in the chips.

I hate having AA on Absolute Poker. I don´t know why but often other hands win over AA.. Flush or straights. :(

So i agree, ALL IN Preflop With AA :)

I like to wait till the flop, then decide whether to slow play.  I go all-in pre-flop if someone makes me, but I usually bet slow.

I think if someone raises you then you should push all in. But if not you should push a good bet to get out junk hands but keep in A K A Q and other decent hands.
