I went all in with fishhooks late in a tourney the other day.  Did not want to but a buddy of mine suggested I do.  Got called by Ax.  You know someone is going to usually.  Got lucky that no A hit.  If I was in your situation I probably would of waited to make the money first then opened it up a bit.  Some players do the exact opposite near the bubble trying to take money from the bubble boys.

i would have played JJ the same way you did.  There is really not alot you can do except hope for anothere one because if you are short stacked what else can you do.  That is a pretty good starting hand.

You're in a tourny I suspect to WIN!!!

I definitely would have gone all in given the fact that you were short stacked anyway and the blinds would have eaten you up shortly.

You took a shot which in my opinion was the right thing to do.  JJ is not KK, AA, AK but you could have lost with those as well.

It's not ONLY SKILL but the combo of that and LUCK.  You didn't have the package.  Happens to all of us.  Part of the game.

Better Luck next time

The problem is that you were short stacked.  Pushing in was correct.  There is 32,000 in the pot and it costs the other player 20000 to call giving him 1.6 to one odds to call. His 55 are only a clear under dog to larger pairs and roughly even money to two over cards and a slight favourite to under/over combination s0 the call was reasonable esp if he had a big stack.  30th place pays virtually nothing always play for the win.

If you wanted to win the tournament, then you made the right move.  However, if you were playing just to hang on and make the top 30, i would have just checked, simply because there are a lot of hands that can beat JJ. Even if the guy had something like A2, he could easily outdraw you.

Either way, you didn't make a bad play, you just got unlucky

I have to agree with your move, I think I would have done the same, but like most have said, your very close in making the top 30 , it would depend on what are the other short stacks in chips are compare to you. It was just tough luck....
