78 Suit

Postby Wrecertrecan » Fri May 12, 2006 9:20 am

Alright well say that your dealt for example 78 Suited(hearts) in the Big Blind. There are 3-4 players that only call ot you and you check. Flop comes 7 of diamonds, Ace of hearts, and 3 of hearts. There is a very large raise to you.... to call or fold...... Turn comes 5 of clubs.... Another large raise to you.... This is where i would fold.

I think I would call it, I still have good chances of improving my hand. I would fold it on flop, or not at all. I just know another heart is coming, thats how poker is!

It all depends, personally i love 7,8 and will normally play it, sometimes i will push with it cause i seem to alway hit at least a pair with it. But as for calling the big bet at the turn it would depend on how many chips i had and if i was feeling lucky. I dont think it would be a bad call tho

depending on the pot size, a 500 chip bet to a 150 chip pot you simply fold.

i try to calculate my percentages: chances of my next card coming out, bet percent of pot, and bet percent of my stack. then you can get a rough estimate if the pot is actually worth the chance.

I would have folded after the turn as well. Your flush is only 1/2 % to win compared to after flop. depending on who you are playing however, i might call if they are super aggy or loose.

FOLD on the flop. There are 3 players more and there's a big chance someone has an ace. You also have a huge disadvantage (position) and it's hard to know and evaluate your opponents' hands. Easy fold for me

He checked from the big blind so how do you consider it playing rags?

For me it would all depend on what the chip stacks and blinds where at also a "large raise" is too little info. 50% of the pot? pot size bet?

but from the info you gave I'd say a flat call of 50% on the flop and a fold on the turn (fold to an over bet on the flop) would be the right play. it’s not a bad flop for 7h 8h you got 16 outs but the position is crap
